The reception for the Soulbuds Show was a great event. There was a good turnout, good music and good food provided by the artists in the Soulbuds show. The show is in the Visual Arts Center at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon and runs through May 22nd, 2009. The Visual Arts Center is a wonderful venue for the show. The lighting is good and the pieces are displayed well.
An added plus to the event was the celebration of Stephen Mickey’s birthday. It was nice to celebrate the man who
provided the kiln and creative environment from which so many of the pots in the show emanated.

My booth at Showcase 2009
Everyone selling pottery at the show was wondering how it would go this given the economy. Would people show up? Would they buy anything? What would they buy … functional ware, “artsy” pieces?
The attendance was up for the show … I heard that the there was a 24% increase in attendance over last year’s show. This was great to hear! I haven’t heard yet anything about the income for the show. For myself I didn’t do as well as years past but better than last year and better than expected. I didn’t many large vases but sold a lot of medium and lower priced pieces. I was quite pleased with the show.
It was wonderful to seemany familiar faces and friends; both potters and patrons. I also met many new people which was nice.
